About SwapToSaaS

SwapToSaaS is a decision guide for anyone tired of watching SaaS bills creep up while the same tools shrink their free tiers.

Why this exists

Every popular SaaS has open-source alternatives — usually three to nine of them. Picking the right one is a mess. Most "alternatives" articles are ranked listicles that rehash press releases and never tell you which one is actually maintained, which is a pain to self-host, or which one the community quietly hates.

We fix that with three things every page has:

• Live GitHub metrics — stars, last commit, issue backlog. Refreshed daily.
• Community sentiment — actual quotes from r/selfhosted and Hacker News, not vendor blogs.
• A decision framework — "If you are X, pick Y." No 5000-word fence-sitting.

Editorial policy

We only recommend hosts we would deploy production workloads on ourselves. Our ranking of the OSS itself is independent of any affiliate relationship — we do not currently receive any payment from OSS projects.
